Details - The 2019-20 campaign was a deeply turbulent season of underperformance for Melbourne Victory as The Big V finished a disappointing 10th in the A-League and missed the finals for the first time in eight years. Spearheading the attack and serving as the club's first international captain was Swedish striker Ola Toivonen, whose 10 league goals proved vital in a campaign marked by managerial instability, featuring three different coaches, Marco Kurz, Carlos Pérez Salvachúa, and Grant Brebner. The season was then dramatically defined by its mid-season suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which ultimately led to Toivonen's early departure before the restart. It was a difficult and frustrating year of transition that, despite the disappointment, remains a defining chapter in the club's modern history
